About Us

The inauguration of a dual council leadership structure of Itaji progressive Union on 25th January 2020 marked the rebirth of new era in the life of the Union. The exact date of the formation of the Union is probably lost to history. However, evidences abound that it came into being in the late 60s. The Itaji Progressive Union is the umbrella association for the entire sons and daughters of Itaji Ekiti.

The Union focuses on causing the accelerated, sustainable and irreversible development of Itaji Ekiti. The Executive Council of the Union under the leadership of the current President Prof. Olajide Adebayo is saddled with the day-to-day administration of the Union while the Advisory Council under the Chairmanship of Pastor William Fagorusi works to provide direction for the Union.

Apart from championing the overall development of Itaji Ekiti, The new IPU has also taken upon herself the responsibility of organizing and celebrating the Annual Itaji Day by November every year. This is the time when all sons and daughters of Itaji-Ekiti are expected to converge at home to celebrate the event and donate towards the development of the community. The annual home coming event is guided by a Yoruba adage which says “ ile l'abo simi oko'.

Since the rebirth and inauguration in January 2020, IPU has continued to experience prosperity and expansion. Currently, the Union has five branches namely:

  1. Ado Ekiti (the Pioneer) branch
  2. Itaji-Ekiti (the Home) branch
  3. The Diaspora (the Golden) branch
  4. Lagos/Ogun/Abuja (the Centre of Excellence) Branch
  5. Ibadan (the Pace Setter) branch

The Union has embarked on activities too numerous to mention since its rebirth. Notably among these developmental projects are; renovation work at Itaji Community Grammar School (ICGS). Establishment of Computer Centre at ICGS, Influenced the siting of FUOYE Sandwich Centre at Itaji, Road and Street maintenance in Itaji-Ekiti and currently the Light up Itaji Project.
